Foot
care is often overlooked by many as the feet are there, but out of the way so
to speak. Foot care is important though and if we take care of our feet we will
feel better all over as a result. Take foot massage for example, which includes
stroking of the foot, ankle rotation, pivoting, and kneading. But why bother?
Well for one thing it feels great, but there's more to it than that as the
anatomy of the foot is connected with the whole body, and it is for this reason
that we can feel relaxed head to toe, by simply having our feet pampered.
I
used to ignore my feet and as a consequence I've suffered a lifetime with bouts
of athletes foot, toe fungus, verrucas, and chilblains. The crazy thing is that
all of these foot conditions could have been easily avoided with a little foot
care. Today, I treat my feet with great respect and they are unrecognizable
compared to the unsightly stumps that used to get disregarded as an important
part of my anatomy.
Unless
you're addicted to pain and discomfort, then I would say that it's essential
that one must take extra care of their feet in order to avoid having the kind
of foot problems that I had. Nice looking feet in good condition DO get noticed
despite being at ground level, and they do make you feel better as a person.
Good foot care is not only about covering uncared-for feet with a nice pair of
shoes, although correctly fitting footwear is also important.
What
about you, are you taking good care of your feet? Most of the time so many of
us focus on health or skin care completely ignoring the importance of our feet!
Women in general take better care of their feet than men, but this is mainly
due to women's shoes, as so many of them are open styles, which means the feet
are often visible.
As
always, prevention is better than cure, and simple preventative measures such
as keeping feet clean, applying lotions to stop them getting dry and chapped,
scrubbing behind toenails and drying between the toes etc, are all quick and
simple techniques that should be incorporated into your foot care regime if you
want to avoid the common and not so common problems folks have with their feet.
The
foot is actually quite a complicated part of the human body, although most of
us take the feet for granted. The first and most basic part of foot care starts
at a very young age and should be continued throughout your lifetime, and that
means wearing the right kind of shoes. Poorly fitted shoes can not only damage
your feet but can course other problems later on in life, so before you rush out
and buy the latest hip footwear, you might just want to pause and ask yourself
if the shoes in question are a). the perfect fit, and b). of good quality,
breathable material.
There
are many causes of foot pain, far too many to mention here, and some can be
quite serious too, but quite often so many of these complaints are as a direct
result of lack of care, and that includes toe nails as well as the foot itself.
Be
good to yourself, be good to your feet, and you will surely reap the rewards in
the long term. Remember, Good foot care is really necessary for healthy pain
free feet.
